Montefiore Expands Cardiac Care in Westchester with New Mount Kisco Clinic
Montefiore Health System’s White Plains Hospital Center is set to broaden its outpatient cardiac services with the development of a new cardiac extension clinic in Mount Kisco. The 2,320-square-foot facility, recently submitted for approval to the New York State Department of Health, will provide outpatient echocardiography and cardiac stress testing, key diagnostic tools for cardiovascular care. Located about 18 miles from White Plains Hospital’s main campus, the project represents a strategic expansion of Montefiore’s Westchester footprint.
The estimated $1.8 million investment will be funded entirely through hospital cash reserves and is expected to take approximately seven months to complete. White Plains Hospital spokesperson Michael Gelormino emphasized that the new clinic is part of a broader initiative to enhance access to specialty cardiac care for patients in Northern Westchester, complementing the system’s existing network of outpatient multispecialty practices that span from Yonkers to Yorktown Heights.
Projected patient volume forecasts anticipate more than 2,500 visits in the first year, growing to nearly 2,800 by year three. This aligns with a growing industry trend where major health systems like Montefiore are increasingly shifting specific cardiac procedures and diagnostic testing to ambulatory sites. Such clinics reduce overhead costs by delivering specialized services without the need for inpatient admission, offering a cost-efficient model that benefits both providers and patients.
Montefiore’s expansion in Westchester underscores the health system’s commitment to strengthening its presence north of New York City. By diversifying outpatient offerings and situating care closer to suburban populations, Montefiore aims to improve patient convenience while managing operational efficiencies amid a competitive healthcare landscape. The Mount Kisco Diagnostic Center will be a critical addition to this evolving strategy, supporting the region’s growing demand for accessible cardiac care.
