Montefiore’s White Plains Hospital to Open New Cardiac Clinic in Mount Kisco
White Plains Hospital Center, a key component of the Montefiore Health System, is set to expand its outpatient cardiac services with the development of a new cardiac extension clinic in Mount Kisco, Westchester County. The hospital recently submitted plans to the New York State Department of Health to construct a 2,320-square-foot facility that will specialize in outpatient echocardiography and cardiac stress testing. This expansion represents the latest effort by the Bronx-based health system to strengthen its presence in Northern Westchester.
Located approximately 18 miles from White Plains Hospital’s main campus, the proposed WPH Mount Kisco Diagnostic Center is projected to cost $1.8 million and aims to improve patient access to comprehensive cardiac care. Montefiore spokesperson Michael Gelormino emphasized the hospital’s commitment to regional growth, noting the new clinic will enhance service availability for the local population. The health system already maintains multiple outpatient multispecialty practices throughout Westchester, from Yonkers to Yorktown Heights.
According to the hospital’s filing, the new clinic anticipates serving more than 2,500 patients in its first year, increasing to nearly 2,800 visits by year three. The project will be funded entirely through hospital cash reserves and is expected to be completed within seven months. This initiative aligns with a broader trend among hospital systems to shift certain cardiac procedures and diagnostic testing to ambulatory sites. This strategy reduces operational overhead while maintaining specialty care outside of inpatient settings.
Montefiore’s strategic expansion north of New York City reflects the competitive dynamics in the region’s healthcare market, as providers seek to capture growing demand for outpatient cardiac services driven by an aging population and increasing cardiovascular disease prevalence. The Mount Kisco clinic will complement existing services and potentially reduce patient travel times, a critical factor in patient retention and satisfaction. This development underscores Montefiore’s ongoing investment in Westchester’s healthcare infrastructure amid evolving delivery models across the metropolitan area.
