NYC’s Creative Sector Drives Economic Growth with Record-Breaking Revenues
The creative industries in New York City — including media, design, and performing arts — generated a record $95 billion in revenue in 2025, according to a new economic impact report. This represents a 6% increase from the prior year, underscoring the sector’s role as a major economic engine.
Growth was fueled by robust demand for digital content, live events, and advertising services. The city’s creative workforce expanded by 4%, with particular gains in digital media and experiential design. Cultural institutions also benefited from rising tourism and local engagement.
Industry leaders highlight the importance of sustained public and private investment to maintain momentum. “The creative sector is integral to NYC’s identity and economy,” said Maria Lopez, Chair of the NYC Creative Council.
Policymakers are exploring new incentives to foster innovation and workforce development in this vital sector.
