Lower East Side Spot Salt & Smoke Shifts Focus to Barbecue and Cocktails
Salt & Smoke, a casual dining spot on the Lower East Side, has shifted its concept to focus primarily on barbecue and craft cocktails. The restaurant reduced its broader American menu to focus on smoked meats and house-made sauces.
The change follows a new partnership with pitmaster Joe Kim, who joined the team last month. The cocktail program is overseen by mixologist Sarah Lee, with an emphasis on whiskey-based drinks.
Salt & Smoke’s owners said the shift responds to customer preferences and the growing interest in specialty barbecue in the neighborhood. The revamped menu launched April 12.
